2020 Lacrosse Season cancelled until May 31

This letter was emailed to the club today from Lacrosse Victoria:

I write to you following the Lacrosse Victoria Board meeting conducted last evening in response to the Federal Government’s announcement regarding tighter restrictions imposed across the country because of escalating COVID-19 pandemic.
These restrictions are to keep us all safe, protect those at risk and to limit the impact the growing number of cases has on our health system. The sooner we respect these restrictions the sooner we will be able to return to doing the things we love most.
Accordingly, all lacrosse training and matches are cancelled until May 31. If we are able to return, then Round 1 will be played on Saturday June 16. This will give our players, officials and administrators two weeks to prepare for matches.
The aim of the Board, if we do return, is to maximise participation. No doubt adjustments will need to be made to accommodate this; however, this will not be made until a firmer start date is identified. The decisions made at the Board meeting on Monday, 18 May will provide more information.
In conjunction with the staff we will consider all possibilities to assist clubs in maintaining membership and financial viability during this difficult time.
The Board also has several financial considerations to be made to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the organisation. We are currently working through the Federal and State assistance packages and if any of these can be utilized by clubs then this will be forwarded directly.
Australian Lacrosse Association has cancelled the U18 boys and girls’ championships due to be conducted by the Eltham Lacrosse Club over Easter. We sympathise with Eltham as they had put so much work into making these championships a great success.
The Board are meeting informally each day and formally will meet again next Monday 30 March, and I will update you on pressing matters including the AGM, scheduled for Monday 20 April.
Like most of us, I am sure you are all anxious about membership fees, registrations and insurances. We are working through this and trust you understand this is not an easy process and there are many moving parts before we can give you a definitive answer.
The staff are all working from home and can be contacted using their emails.
Whilst this period will be tough, I implore you to play your role to keep one another safe and be understanding.
